TT Terms & Conditions

FOUNDATION TEACHER TRAINING COURSE

1. Course Suitability

1.1 The Foundation Teacher Training Course is designed for students who demonstrate commitment, maturity and an established yoga practice.

1.2 A minimum of 1 year of consistent yoga practice is recommended, or a longer-term yoga practice where attendance has been intermittent.

1.3 The course welcomes individuals wishing to deepen their personal practice and knowledge of yoga, whether or not they intend to teach professionally.

1.4 Applications are reviewed by the Lead Teachers and Course Directors to ensure the programme is suitable for the applicant and their current level of experience.

2. Course Purpose

2.1 The course is designed to provide the training, knowledge, practical experience and assessments required to achieve the 200-Hour Foundation Yoga Teacher qualification, subject to successful completion of all course requirements.

2.2 The course is equally suitable for individuals wishing to deepen their personal yoga practice or complement an existing career within yoga, wellness or complementary health.

3. Teaching Practice & Accreditation

3.1 During the course, trainees will undertake supervised teaching practice, which may include teaching fellow students, friends and family.

3.2 Where required as part of the programme, trainees will be registered under the relevant student insurance scheme. Any applicable fee will be communicated before enrolment.

3.3 Upon successful completion of all required course hours, coursework, assessments and teaching requirements, graduates will receive a 200-Hour Foundation Yoga Teacher Certificate in accordance with the accreditation applicable to the programme.

3.4 Graduates intending to teach independently are responsible for obtaining appropriate professional liability insurance and any required or recommended First Aid certification. Guidance will be provided during the programme.

4. Meeting the Faculty

4.1 Prospective trainees may have the opportunity to meet the Lead Senior Teachers through an individual Discovery Call, taster session or online Q&A session.

5. Confidence & Teaching Readiness

5.1 Teaching yoga is a skill developed through practice. The course includes structured and supervised teaching opportunities designed to help trainees develop their knowledge, communication skills and teaching confidence.

5.2 Successful completion of the course requires active participation, completion of the required coursework and assessments, and demonstration of the required teaching competencies.

6. Inclusivity & Learning Support

6.1 The training team is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment and supporting students with different learning needs where reasonably possible.

6.2 Students are encouraged to inform the Course Directors of any specific learning requirements or reasonable adjustments they may need so these can be discussed in advance.

7. Course Commitment, Workload & Attendance

7.1 The Foundation Teacher Training is a part-time hybrid programme, combining in-studio training with online learning, independent study, personal practice and assessment.

7.2 Students should anticipate approximately 1.5–2 additional hours per week of independent study. This may include assignments, reading, online learning and personal yoga practice.

7.3 Students are expected to attend all scheduled training sessions and participate fully in the programme.

7.4 Where a student is unable to attend a training session, they must inform the training team as soon as reasonably possible. Depending on the content missed, they may be required to:

  • Review a session recording where one is available;
  • Complete associated coursework or assignments; and/or
  • Submit a reflection or other make-up work.

7.5 Students missing up to 3 training days may be required to complete additional private tuition or make-up training where this is necessary to meet the course or accreditation requirements. Where private make-up tuition is required, the current rate is £90 per hour. Any applicable cost will be agreed with the student before the additional tuition takes place.

7.6 Students missing more than 3 training days may be unable to meet the attendance requirements for certification within their original intake.

Where this occurs, the Course Directors will discuss the available options with the student. These may include continuing the programme for personal learning, completing additional training where reasonably possible, or transferring to a future intake subject to availability and any applicable costs.

8. Assessment & Progress

8.1 Students are expected to complete all required coursework, assignments, practical teaching and assessments within the timelines provided.

8.2 Where a student falls behind or does not initially meet an assessment requirement, the training team may recommend additional support. This may include a Personal Development Plan, mentoring, additional practice, private tuition or reassessment.

8.3 Where additional optional or private support carries an additional fee, the student will be informed of the cost before agreeing to that support.

8.4 Certification is awarded only when the required course hours, coursework, assessments and teaching competencies have been successfully completed.

9. Course Fees, Cancellation, Transfers & Refunds

9.1 Studio Cancellation

If URBΔN ŌM Yoga Studio cancels the entire programme before it begins and cannot provide a suitable alternative, students will be offered either:

  • A refund of course fees paid for the cancelled programme; or
  • A transfer to the next available equivalent training programme at no additional course fee.

This does not affect the student’s statutory rights.

9.2 Student Cancellation — 90 Days or More Before the Course

Where a student cancels 90 days or more before the advertised course start date, they may request:

  • A refund of course fees paid, less any applicable deposit or reasonable costs already incurred in connection with their enrolment; or
  • A one-time transfer to a future intake, subject to availability.

Any amount retained following cancellation will be reasonable and proportionate to the studio’s actual losses resulting from the cancellation.

9.3 Student Cancellation — Fewer Than 90 Days Before the Course

Where a student cancels fewer than 90 days before the advertised course start date, the studio may retain an amount from payments already made to cover reasonable losses directly resulting from the cancellation.

Where reasonably possible, URBΔN ŌM will take steps to reduce those losses, including offering the place to another suitable applicant.

A one-time transfer to a future intake may alternatively be offered, subject to availability and a £150 administration fee.

Transfers must normally be used for one future intake commencing within 12 months of the original course start date, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

9.4 Statutory Cancellation Rights

Nothing within these Terms & Conditions affects any cancellation or refund rights provided to the student by law.

Where a statutory cooling-off or cancellation period applies to an enrolment made online, by telephone or otherwise at a distance, the student’s statutory rights will apply regardless of the studio’s standard cancellation periods above.

9.5 Withdrawal After the Course Has Started

If a student withdraws after the programme has begun due to illness, work, family commitments or other personal circumstances, any refund or outstanding payment obligation will be considered in accordance with these Terms & Conditions, the training already provided, costs reasonably incurred by the studio and the student’s statutory rights.

Where appropriate, the studio may offer a transfer or alternative arrangement, but this will depend on the circumstances, course requirements and availability.

9.6 Any agreed transfer applies to the named student only and cannot be transferred or sold to another person without prior written agreement from the studio.

10. Course Adjustments & Circumstances Beyond Our Control

10.1 Occasionally, it may be necessary to make reasonable changes to training dates, teaching faculty, course content, location or delivery format due to circumstances outside the studio’s reasonable control, including severe weather, illness, venue restrictions or other unexpected events.

10.2 Where an in-studio session cannot reasonably take place, the studio may provide suitable teaching online or reschedule the affected session.

10.3 Where practical, additional in-studio teaching will be arranged where this is necessary to ensure students have the opportunity to meet the practical requirements of the qualification.

10.4 Students will be given as much notice as reasonably possible of any significant changes.

10.5 The studio will not make material changes that substantially alter the overall nature of the qualification without communicating with affected students and providing appropriate options where required.

11. Post-Graduation Opportunities

11.1 Successful completion of the programme does not guarantee employment or teaching opportunities with URBΔN ŌM Yoga Studio.

11.2 Graduates may be considered for future teaching opportunities at the studio. Any opportunity will be subject to the studio’s current requirements, availability and usual selection or audition process.

12. Further Training

12.1 Graduates are encouraged to continue their professional development following completion of the Foundation Teacher Training.

12.2 URBΔN ŌM may offer additional specialist and continuing professional development training, including areas such as Yin, Restorative, Therapeutics and Power Vinyasa Yoga.

12.3 Further training is separate from the Foundation Teacher Training and may be subject to separate fees, eligibility requirements and Terms & Conditions.

13. Health, Participation & Liability

13.1 Yoga and physical training involve movement and physical activity. Students are responsible for listening to their bodies, practising within their individual capabilities and informing the training team of any relevant circumstances that may affect their safe participation.

13.2 Students should seek appropriate professional or medical advice before participating where they have concerns about whether the physical elements of the programme are suitable for them.

13.3 Students are responsible for providing relevant information reasonably required for the studio to support their safe participation in the programme.

13.4 URBΔN ŌM Yoga Studio and its teaching team will take reasonable care in the delivery of the programme.

Nothing within these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability or statutory consumer right that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.

14. Privacy & Data Protection

14.1 URBΔN ŌM Yoga Studio respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.

14.2 Personal information provided in connection with the Teacher Training Programme will be used to review and manage applications, communicate with applicants and trainees and, where an application is successful, administer and deliver the programme.

14.3 We will only collect and process personal information that is relevant and necessary for these purposes. Where health or other sensitive information is required for the safe and appropriate delivery of the training, we will only request information that is reasonably necessary.

14.4 Personal information will be handled securely and processed in accordance with applicable UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, as amended from time to time.

14.5 Further information about how we collect, use, store and protect personal information, how long information is retained, who it may be shared with and your data protection rights can be found in the URBΔN ŌM Yoga Studio Privacy Policy available on our website.

15.1 By enrolling in the Foundation Teacher Training Course, you confirm that you have had the opportunity to read and understand these Terms & Conditions before committing to the programme.

15.2 You also confirm that you have had the opportunity to review the URBΔN ŌM Yoga Studio Privacy Policy.

15.3 These Terms & Conditions do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
